Spotlight on Educators: Cale Horibe

Meet Cale!

Hi Everyone! This week I'm so excited to introduce you to S•R Educator and the chillest guy I know, Cale Horibe.

I first met Cale back when I was Creative Director at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica and he was a student. His passion for his newfound craft was undeniable. and a few years later when I was looking to expand the S•R team I couldn't wait to add him to the roster!

A big thank you to Cale for taking time to chat with us!

Tell us about your background and how you got into the hair industry...

My grandparents were hairstylists and my Dad is currently a stylist/salon owner in Hawaii. Growing up everyone would always ask me if I was going to be a hairstylist someday like my father, and honestly it was probably the last thing I thought I would ever do. But here I am! I got into the industry 11 years ago and had no idea if I would like it or not. I recall throwing my doll head down the stairs when trying to learn the curling iron. It wasn't until we started cutting hair off that I actually started enjoying it.

How did you become an S•R Educator?

I met Sally as a cosmetology student at the Vidal Sassoon Academy.  Since graduating I've always been involved in education, whether it was taking classes or teaching them, so when I heard Sally was starting her own company, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to join the team.

What is your favorite part of being an S•R Educator?

There are so many positives to being a part of the S•R team it's hard to choose just one. Getting intensive training from Sally is any hairstylist's dream come true. Learning the Women's, Men's and Creative programs has changed my salon work. I feel more clear and concise in my approach and as a result have been able to maximize my schedule.

What is your favorite SR Education memory?

I love meeting new people and seeing so many hairstylists who are so excited and passionate about learning. There's nothing better!
