CAROLYN PIRAS. From a very young age I’ve been a lover of the arts, fashion photography, and just creativity in general. After receiving my BFA I moved to Denver and thought grad school would be my next step. That was until one day, when walking through downtown in Denver, I saw the Aveda Institute under construction. The impulse to be a hair stylist hit me like a bolt of lightning and I immediately enrolled. The decision came from my gut and 12 years later you’ll find me behind the chair the Elle B. Salon and I couldn’t be happier that I listened to my inner voice!
I believe that continuing education is the key to longevity in this business and as a result I have put my own education to the forefront of my business with a focus on consistency, a high technical skillset, customer service skills, and staying on top of new trends and techniques. I believe that challenging yourself and being slightly uncomfortable brings the most growth. I’ve found that the moment you stop learning is when the boredom starts creeping in. Being an S•R Educator helps create strong and efficient communication, not only with peers, but with clients as well, while perfecting my haircutting skills. I look forward to the opportunity to help other stylists grow and learn using the S•R Education Method!
KAYLA THEMER. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a hair stylist. When I was a Sophomore in high school I found my calling in a career course and chose to enter the cosmetology program (and let’s be honest, the half day out of classes didn’t hurt!). Through this program I discovered my love for the hair industry and I’ve never looked back. After graduating from high school I relocated to Tacoma, WA and began working at a SuperCuts. Through dedication and A TON of hard work I was able to work my way up to a position with a high end salon. After a few years in Washington I returned to my home state of Illinois and this is where my passion for education was ignited. Always pushing myself to be the best stylist I can be, I took countless classes including color foundations, fashion color, and blonde/toning with Goldwell, razor cutting with Nick Arrojo, cutting with KMS, cutting with Surface, and balayage with The Business of Balayage. It was after a move to Denver and being hired by the Elle B. Salon that I discovered the S•R Education cutting program through one of Sally’s In Salon Seminar and I was hooked. It has changed the way I cut hair. As a hair stylist, salon manager, and educator I have the best job! I can’t wait to share my experience, knowledge and passion with my students through the S•R Education Academy in Denver and to continue to grow in the industry.
